Lego Horizon Adventures

Join machine hunter Aloy as she leads a colorful crew of heroes through the lush wilderness on a quest to save the world and learn the secrets of her past. Dive into boundless adventure, customize to your heart’s content, and take on action-packed battles solo or with friends in co-op. We don’t know exactly how the apocalyptic world of Horizon, will translate into a brighter Lego world, but we’re excited to see the transition.

Path of Exile 2

Set years after the original Path of Exile, you will return to the dark world of Wraeclast where, since the death of Kitava, society has been slowly rebuilding. Ambitious men rise to fill the void and their thirst for power is once again corrupting the region.

Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivalsis putting the hero in hero shooter withliteral superheroes. Unlike traditional hero shooters like Overwatch 2, this time, you will be playing from a third-person perspective to get a better look at your hero in battle. The “plot” for the game is that Doctor Doom has teamed up with another version of himself from 2099 and has forced all the Marvel universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement. It’s essentially just a loose justification for why all these heroes and villains are fighting it out in various iconic Marvel locations.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII

Kicking off the year,Civ 7 will make the wait for any other game you have on your wish list that much easier. This is the first time the series is launching on consoles at the same time as PC, so you can enjoy this epic 4X game along with everyone else.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

When you want to blow off steam and just rip through thousands of enemies, there’s nothing that can compare with a Warriors game. There have been plenty of spinoffs in recent years, but now it’s time to go back to the core series with Dynasty Warriors: Origins. From what we’ve seen, battles will be the biggest yet, with thousands of troops onscreen at once just waiting for you to demolish them.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

This game may look like Skyrim, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is closer to a medieval simulator than afantasy RPG. There are plenty of RPG elements and dynamic quests that can be accomplished in multiple ways based on how you approach them, but death comes at you fast. This is a perfect game for anyone who really wants to feel immersed in a specific time and place.

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft is finally bringing the Assassin’s Creed series to ancient Japan after all these years. While we did have two protagonists in one game prior, this is the first time each one will have drastically different skills and abilities. Naoe will focus on stealth, traversal, and tools, while Yasuke faces combat head-on, wears armor, and wields heavy weapons. You’re free to swap between them as you wish to play the game however suits you. There will also be dozens of sidequests and activities to keep you busy in the open world.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Majima is back and embracing his wild side by taking to the high seas ina new pirate-themed adventure. While the last Like a Dragon games had stuck to turn-based battles, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will go back to its action RPG roots, alongside ship battles and a ton of new and crazy side stories.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter fans know what they want from a new entry, and Wilds looks like it is going to deliver it all and more. This is the first real current-gen entry in the series and everything from the visuals to the monsters looks like it is taking advantage of that hardware. Sharpen your blades because this is going to be one long hunt.

Tales of the Shire

So many Lord of the Rings games focus on epic battles and challenging journeys. Why not take a cue from the Hobbits and relax a bit with a cozy charming sim like Tales of the Shire? Set in a new town in the Shire, you can decorate your own Hobbit hole, grow your garden, and enjoy the quiet life far from all that nonsense about the One Ring.

Marathon - April 27, 2025

Bungie is looking to reaffirm its mastery in sci-fi shooters (see Destiny 2 and Halo) by giving a nostalgic nod to the ’90s with the revamped classic Marathon. The PvP-focused extraction shooter unfolds on the enigmatic Tau Ceti IV, where players become cybernetic mercenaries navigating the remnants of a lost colony. Solo or in crews of three, they hunt for alien artifacts, loot, and gear.

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 was only teased, but it is supposedly going to land in 2025. If that’s the case, the only things you can count on are an unlimited number of guns to find and loot, colorful environments to explore, a new cast of wacky Vault hunters to meet, and a great co-op experience. Anything else is still up in the air.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

While Xbox players will get the first crack at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, PlayStation players won’t have to wait too long to go on this adventure. Follow Indy on this new globe-trotting adventure with brutal first-person combat, open zones to explore, and plenty of puzzles to solve.

Ghost of Yotei

Ghost of Yoteifollows a new female hero named Atsu and takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The setting is Mount Yotei, which is part of Ezo, now known as Hokkaido. In 1603, Mount Yotei was outside of Japan’s rule, and it features a vast array of different environments including grasslands and tundra. The story also seems to shy away from the organized samurai clans that were in Tsushima, but no other story details have been provided yet.

Hollow Knight: Silksong — TBD 2024

What began as a Hollow Knight DLC add-on eventually turned into a fully-fledged sequel. Silksong is the all-new game from Team Cherry, building upon the foundation of its predecessor but with a few new twists. In Silksong, you play as Hornet, a character who appeared as a boss in the first installment. This game will send players on a journey through the kingdom of Pharloom with the goal of reaching the top. It’ll still feature the tough-as-nails action gameplay, with Metroidvania elements, but there’s a new story and some additional gameplay elements.

Grand Theft Auto VI

Grand Theft Auto VI finally has an announcement trailer. Set in the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City (inspired by Florida and Miami), GTA 6 will feature busy cities, swamps filled with gators and hillbillys, and plenty of crime. The game is tentatively expected to launch sometime in 2025.

Light No Fire

From the creators of No Man’s Sky comes a fantastical exploration adventure with a lot of promise. Light No Fire takes place on an alternate Earth where mythical creatures like animated skeletons and dragons roam. We don’t know a lot about this title yet, but it looks similar to Hello Games’ previous hit — there will be lots of foraging, crafting, and trekking across a massive world. Platforms haven’t officially been announced but we expect it to launch of PS5.

Death Stranding 2 - TBD

First announced by Hideo Kojima at the Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2 is a real project that’s in development. We know that actor Norman Reedus will be reprising his role as Sam, and that’s about it. We won’t see this game for a few years.

Gothic 1 Remake

Cult classic RPG Gothic is getting a complete remake for the PlayStation 5. We don’t know much about the title, but we do know that THQ Nordic opened a new studio to work solely on this project. A playable teaser is available on PC, and it looks to be shaping up nicely. Let’s hope it gets the attention it deserves and Gothic fans get the game they’ve wanted for years.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

It’s been forever since we last walked the vampire-ridden streets of Bloodlines, and we can’t wait to see how much has changed during that time. Recent footage of the game displayed more chaos, a grittier Seattle locale, and a deep, branching storyline. Unfortunately, the game suffered a recent delay, pushing it to an unknown release window.

Doom: The Dark Ages

It’s time to go medieval on some demons. Doom: The Dark Ages is the next chapter in the series that was rebooted in 2016 and looks like more of what we loved about those games. Aside from some crunchy new weapons we can’t wait to get our hands on, the game promises both dragons and giant mechs to pilot.

Marvel's Wolverine

One of the greatest surprises during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine, a project in development by Insomniac Games. That’s right, the studio is juggling Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and this game simultaneously, which just goes to show how impressive the team is. This one is even earlier in development than Spider-Man 2 and doesn’t have a release window just yet. It’s unclear if it will tie to the Spider-Man games or if it will be its own separate story — though we’re inclined to believe they’ll be connected. The reveal trailer doesn’t give us a glimpse of gameplay, but we can probably expect it to be a third-person action adventure with a large open world to explore. We know that you’ll need a PS5 to play this one when it comes out.

Project 007

Coming from Hitman developer IO Interactive, the team is now working on a James Bond game under the working title Project 007. It will be an original story with a new Bond character, divorced from any of the likenesses of previous actors. The team expects this to be part of a trilogy of games, though not much else is known about the project(s). Much like a lot of the games on this list, Project 007 likely won’t launch for a few years.
