Manchester United are on the hunt for new talent in the January transfer window as Ruben Amorim aims to strengthen his struggling squad and lift them from their lowly position.
The Red Devils have had a rocky start under the ex-Sporting Lisbon manager since he took over from Erik ten Hag in October, securing only five victories in his initial 13 matches at the helm. But a late turnaround against Southampton has lifted them away from a relegation battle to 12th.
It's been widely reported that he's on the lookout for a fresh left-back and striker this month in particular. Several departures could also be on the cards this month, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro all rumoured to be heading for the exit after limited game time under the Portuguese manager.
Here are some of the most significant transfer news related to United from the past 24 hours, reports the Mirror.
Garnacho open to Napoli switch

There's no denying Garnacho is one of the most promising talents to emerge from Old Trafford in recent years, but he's currently experiencing a challenging period under Amorim, who has used him sparingly of late. Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli, who are likely to lose key winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG this month.Napoli manager Antonio Conte would need an appropriate replacement for Kvaratskhelia and seems to have pinpointed Garnacho as the ideal candidate. Garnacho is eager to make the transition to Serie A and United are open to the sale as it would represent pure profit after he progressed through their academy - ensuring they remain compliant with PSR rules.Negotiations have kicked off with a proposed fee of around £40million being bandied about. However, United are reportedly holding out for a figure closer to £70m, which coincidentally is the same amount PSG are prepared to shell out for Kvaratskhelia.
United's striker conundrum could lead them to Isak

Manchester United have been linked with several forwards, including Amorim's former charge Viktor Gyokeres, but with the Swedish star seemingly off the table for now - the Red Devils might pivot towards his international colleague Alexander Isak.Ex-United player Gary Pallister has suggested that Amorim should swoop for the on-fire Newcastle striker, who has bagged nine goals in his last six matches. Arsenal are also rumoured to be keen on the striker due to their own issues up front, but Pallister hopes his old team can get there first."They're still looking for a player to get them goals; he looks the finished article and full of confidence. I'm not sure whether they will fork out £150million which is what Newcastle want, but he'd be a great signing for any Premier League side.
"There's noise out of Old Trafford that they're looking at new strikers. Rasmus Hojlund has been at the club for a season and a half. Look, I love his attitude but it's clear he's learning on the job. The club needs goals right now – Joshua Zirkzee isn't a striker for me, he's more of a number ten.""It's a shame the club didn't try and get the Harry Kane deal done when he was on the market. I'd say Isak will be out of the price range for the club, but maybe if something can be done using Marcus Rashford going the other way, I don't know. The club just need a goalscorer."

Manchester United target set for Juventus switch

Another striker linked with United is PSG's Kolo Randal Muani, who could be part of a transfer domino effect. His departure could potentially open the door for Kvaratskhelia's arrival - while Garnacho would then step into the Georgian star's shoes at Napoli.Muani has found regular game time hard to come by under boss Luis Enrique and has been tipped for a Premier League move, but it now seems more likely he'll be showcasing his skills in Serie A.Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG and Juventus are deep in negotiations to bring Muani to Turin. Romano claims "all documents are ready" for Muani's move to Juve, with a deal expected to be finalised on Thursday after the player flew out for a medical. This comes as a disappointment to United, who were among the clubs showing interest along with Tottenham, but the French international has chosen to join forces with Thiago Motta's squad instead.
